Ask Questions If Underspecified
Pause and ask when requirements are ambiguous instead of inventing risky defaults.
What it is
Ask Questions If Underspecified comes from Trail of Bits. It tells the agent to stop when goals, constraints, or success criteria are missing, and to ask targeted questions before writing code or changing systems. Complements Grill Me: one clarifies inputs, the other stress-tests a plan.
Example prompt
Ask before guessing
I need auth on this API. If anything is underspecified, ask me before you invent a scheme.
